The Victoria County Behavioral Health Hospital will add 60 beds for patients, 30 of those being designated a forensic unit due to The State of Texas is currently experiencing a growing need for behavioral hospital units. The goal is to alleviate the current waitlists at detention centers and provide an enriching experience for patients, whether they are on the track to be rehabilitated or require a longer stay. This experience would be made possible by designing processes that prioritize human dignity and safety, whether it’s for the patient, staff or visitors. The behavioral hospital will be a facility of 50,000 to 55,000 square feet, which accounts for the necessary patient, staff, and support spaces.
